Clean Title

Clean title is basically ownership of the property free of any claims of others. The seller is required to pass clean title to the buyer at the closing.

Unpaid mortgages, liens, judgments, association assessments, past errors in chain of title, and tax levies can all prevent the seller from pasing clean (or clear) title.
